Fiesta sa Vigan!

Pahiram naman ng oras mo oh. Samahan mo ako sa Vigan!

From vibrant costumes...the sound of drums that is still echoing in my ears and the scent of those mouthwatering foods is what I remember from my experience seeing the celebration of Fiesta (Conversion of St. Paul) in Vigan City, also known as the Longganisa Festival. Here in Vigan City, the Longganisa Festival is a week-long event that began on January 22 and ends on January 25. The city's dedication to maintaining its culinary heritage and presenting its unique tastes that have been passed down through generations is demonstrated by this colorful festival. Through these simple images, I would like to share with you my enjoyable experiences during the Longganisa Festival, which offers a lot of entertaining activities.

First, I had the chance to see the Longganisa Festival's parade and street dancing, which began in front of Vigan City Hall and ended on Quezon Avenue Street. There was a large crowd full of humanity that were eagerly waiting on both sides of the street to witness the parade. Every major business and group that has shaped Vigan as a city participates in the parades. Street dancers wear colorful, typically silky clothing, and some even wore abel, an Ilocos native woven fabric. The street dancers in Vigan show their creative and graceful abilities through their captivating smiles that match with their movements while dancing.

The Vigan City Fiesta Longganisa Festival 2024 also includes an Educational Competitions event, often known as Education Night. In which case it is a unique occasion hosted as a part of the yearly Vigan City Fiesta celebrations. I have seen the teachers compete in a festival dancing competition among the several schools in the city, showcasing their talents through an amazing performances. This event seeks to celebrate the important role that education plays in shaping the next generation of leaders by honoring outstanding educators, students, and remarkable contributions to the profession. Teachers and students from several educational institutions in the city participated in this event.

Also, I have the opportunity to experience the appetizing foods that I have seen at the Vigan Food Festival. I witnessed the Vigan Food Festival, where a lot of food stalls selling a variety of mouthwatering Vigan City delicacies were lined up in the roadway across from Plaza Burgos and the Vigan Cathedral. I've seen how they happily cooked and presented the food in front of the customers and tourists, adding to the feeling of enjoyment and which made the meal taste better.

Furthermore, I've witnessed a marching band competition in which numerous Vigan schools took part. I can still hear the sound of musical instruments, and it's such a great feeling to be able to see things like this. Where a large crowd has also assembled to watch this amazing performance. I enjoy seeing their performances so much because I find their musical performances, attires, and dance moves fascinating.

Lastly, I believe that my favorite part of my trip to Vigan was going to the "Perya," or Carnival. This carnival will always be there when Vigan's fiesta approaches. My friends and I came here to enjoy the adventurous rides, especially the Viking, and we had an unforgettable experience. We screamed a lot when we entered the rides, which made it hilarious because it was both fun and frightening. I will include this as one of the greatest moments on my list.

Overall, I admit that I had an unforgettable experience watching and participating in the Vigan festival, and it's an honor to be a part of this incredible celebration. Through these performances, which offer a deeper understanding of the historical and cultural significance attached to Vigan, connecting the community to its roots and fostering a feeling of joy in their  traditions, I've come to realize how wonderful Vigan culture is. As the festival grows and develops, it stands as an evidence to the strength of a community united in its love celebration and its perseverance of its rich history.

Closing Chapter Two

As we face the end of the second quarter, I'd like to talk about what I've learned in our ICT class. Before starting anything else, though, let me thank Ma'am Evelyn Vera Cruz, our subject teacher, for leading us through the very first quarter of our study until now. We recall that in the first quarter, we learned everything there was to know about blogs; however, in the second quarter, we explored the world of HTML. My study into HTML has proven to be both useful and interesting. I've gained a solid understanding of the structure and presentation of content on the web by exploring every aspect of HyperText Markup Language.

An important aspect of what I learned was becoming knowledgeable with the wide variety of HTML tags. These tags are the starting point for organising and designing a visually appealing web page. I gained knowledge on how to use tags like headings, paragraphs, bodies, and many more to effectively communicate information. This improved the readability of my webpages and made the user experience more seamless as well.

I developed my ability to create responsive designs as I went forward. I used HTML to implement responsive design principles because I knew how important it was to support different screen sizes and devices. With this gained understanding, I can now create web pages that smoothly adjust to various viewing environments and give users a consistent and enjoyable experience.
To sum up, learning HTML this second quarter has greatly changed the way I approach web development. I've developed a strong set of abilities that provide a strong basis for building efficient and user-friendly websites through learning the basics of tags. Each new chapter starts with a new lesson, and I'm thankful for everything I've learned and I am eager to get to the upcoming next chapter.

Remembering the Ever-Relevant Jose Rizal

Let's begin with his well-known statement, "Ang kabataan ang pag-asa ng bayan." After reading this, you probably already know who said it—Jose Rizal, our national hero, is, after all. The name José Protacio Rizal Mercado y Alonso Realonda is well-known among Filipinos. Since he's the national hero of our country, the Philippines. His varied contributions left an enduring impression on Philippine society. His ability to spark social and political change during the Spanish colonial era is his greatest legacy. This blog highlights Rizal's greatest contribution—his novels, which have a significant social impact—in assisting the Filipino people in opening their eyes and minds in order to obtain their freedom.

The most important contribution made by Rizal was his literary talent, which was on display in his novels "Noli Me Tangere" and "El Filibusterismo." He captured the harsh reality of Filipino life under the Spanish era, revealing the injustices, corruption, and social evils that were common at the time. Through his deft storytelling of stories that mirrored the hardships of the Filipino people, Rizal sparked a sense of national consciousness among his fellow countrymen.

In short, the most significant contribution of Rizal was his writings, which are novels that open everyone's eyes in the Philippines. His legacy lives on in Filipino hearts as a testament to determination, as well as patriotism, and the never-ending pursuit of justice and freedom. Generations after generation have been motivated by the life and works of Rizal, who serves as an ongoing reminder that seeking knowledge and addressing injustice are must in order to build a society free from unfairness and wrong doings.

Starting Over Again

                                                         "Año Nuevo Vida Nueva"

We welcome another year which is the year 2024 that signifies new beginnings to us. As 2024 approached, I found myself standing in a road that leads to multiple directions for where to begin this year. I realized that it's time for me to make new core plans to accomplish 'till the end of the year.  This year, my core plans revolve around my personal growth and self-discovery as an individual.  Which emphasizes that my core plans revolve around continuous learning and refining my capabilities. As a person who's afraid to move outside her comfort zone and hard of letting go of the past, I've realized that not all things are meant to stay to what it is but it taught you to take a step forward and learn things to let out all of my potential as a person.

"This is a new year. A new beginning. And things will change"

                                                          -Taylor Swift

This year, I want to grow personally and learn more about myself. In order to do that, I think that accepting who I am will help me grow personally and learn more about myself. Looking back on the years since the pandemic began, I realize that I have been too hard on myself and that there are mistakes that I still struggle to let go of. This realization has now dawned on me that not everything is destined to turn out alright. Each of us has made mistakes, and it’s okay because from these mistakes, we learn and grow into our best version of ourselves. I believe in the saying that “mistakes are part of the learning process” because it’s what keeps us to do better and to learn things. So, this year, my first mission is to accept myself and learn to forgive myself. I should let go of the past and focus only on my present. By this, I would be able to improve my personal development, as well as discovering myself more during the process.

"The new year stands before us, like a chapter in a book, waiting to be written."

                                                              -Melody Beattie

Furthermore, in this new year, I want to explore the things I've always wanted to do. I genuinely wanted to understand my place in the world and what my purpose was.  As I've gotten older, I've come to understand that there's a lot more to myself and that I will continue to grow as a person. For this reason, I've made an effort to bring out the best version of myself by learning new skills through building a healthy lifestyle, pursuing new passions, and developing strong relationships with other people that revolve around me.

"If you're brave enough to say goodbye, life will reward you with a new hello."

                                                                  - T.S Eliot

Overall, as this year passed by, every day has opened a new chapter in my ongoing journey of self-improvement and self-discovery, which has involved accepting who I am, letting go of my mistakes, and pursuing what I want in life. New year, new changes, and all of these offer opportunities for growth. All I’ve ever hoped is that this year will be my year to enjoy as I dig deeper to improve and discover myself. This is more than simply a goal but it's a significant part of my life that enables me to develop myself by learning new things and realizing my full potential.
